Syllabus for SSC CGL 2014 Tier-I

SSC CGL 2014 tier-I syllabus has been divided into four following sections:
  • General intelligence and Reasoning (50 marks)
  • Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)
  • English Comprehension (50 marks)
  • General Awareness (50 marks) 
Total number of questions: 200
Time duration: 2 hours

In quantitative aptitude section, questions are set to test the mathematical ability of the candidate.This section includes:

  • Discount
  • Simple interest and compound interest
  • Mixtures and Allegation
  • Time and work
  • Time, speed and distance
  • Trains
  • Boats and streams
  • Pipes and cisterns
  • Permutation and Combination
  • Probability
  • Linear equations
  • Quadratic equations
  • Mensuration (Area and volume)
  • Co-ordinate geometry
  • Geometry:  Triangles, Circle and its chords, Quadrilaterals, Polygons, Right prism, Right circular cone, Right circular cylinder Sphere, Hemisphere, Parallelopiped, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Complementary angles, Height and distances etc.
  • Trigonometric Ratios
  • Data interpretation

English Comprehension

  • Reading Comprehensions
  • Vocabulary: Antonym, Synonym, Blanks, Spelling, Idioms and phrases
  • Grammar: Sentence correction, Active- passive, Sentence improvement, Direct- Indirect
  • Sentence rearrangement
