SBI-PO Study Plan: Reasoning section

Posted by Jasleen Behl
SBI-PO MCQ exam is divided into four sections:
General Awareness - 50 ques
Data Interpretation - 50 ques
Reasoning - 50 ques
English - 50 ques

Today I will cover only Reasoning section thoroughly and soon I will cover other sections too. For SBI-PO and SSC too, reasoning is a scoring subject. So you should leave this section and try to cover its topics first and then proceed to other sections.

Reasoning

In reasoning section, the major part is of verbal topics like inference conclusion, sullogism, data sufficiency etc. From last few years the weightage of section is almost same. Just little changes. Analyze it thoroughly and try to make your study plan accordingly.

So out of 50 questions, approximately 30-35 question are asked from verbal moderate level topics which i have discussed below:

Verbal Moderate level (25-35 Questions)

  • Coding decoding
  • Direction based test
  • Odd pair
  • Alphabet test
  • Math operations and inequalities
  • Seating arrangement (Atleast 1 set of 5 questions)
  • Data sufficiency
  • Series

Verbal High level(10-15 Questions)

  • Inference conclusion
  • Statement
  • Syllogism
  • Cause effect
  • Arguments
  • Analogy
Non-Verbal - 5 Questions

Referring books

For Verbal and non- verbal, I suggest you to follow A modern approach to verbal and non verbal by R.S. Aggarwal.

For higher level questions like Inference and conclusion, suggested book is Analytical reasoning by M K Pandey.

Both books are sufficient for reasoning section. In RS Aggarwal book, solutions of exampes are less, therefore for more practice mus refer one more book which i suggested you  ( M K Pandey)
